Privacy Policy

Dabba ("Dabba", "we", "us", "our") gives independent UK takeaways a branded online-ordering storefront and in-shop tools. The product is not yet live - this website introduces Dabba and lets you register your interest. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who we share it with, and the rights you have. We've written it in plain English. If anything is unclear, contact us at hello@dabba.so.
1. Who we are
Dabba is a product of Unovo Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales (company number and registered office to be confirmed). For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. Our data protection contact is reachable at hello@dabba.so.
2. Who this policy is for
- Visitors - anyone who browses this website.
- Registrants - people who submit the "register your interest" form.
3. The personal data we collect
| Category | What it includes | Who it's about |
|---|---|---|
| Interest details | Your name, your takeaway's name, email address, and (optionally) phone number, town, and anything you tell us in the message field | Registrants |
| Technical & usage | IP address, device and browser type, and the pages you visit | All visitors |
We do not take payments through this website, and we don't ask for special category data (such as health information). Please don't send us sensitive information through the message field.
4. How we use your data, and our legal basis
| What we use it for | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Responding to your registration and keeping you updated about Dabba's launch | Your consent (given on the form) and our legitimate interests in following up with interested businesses |
| Keeping the site secure and preventing misuse | Our legitimate interests in protecting the site and its users |
| Meeting our legal, tax and accounting obligations | Legal obligation |
You can withdraw your consent - and ask us to stop contacting you - at any time by emailing hello@dabba.so. That won't affect anything we did before you asked.
5. Who we share your data with
We don't sell your personal data. We share it only as needed to run this site:
| Provider | What they do | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Our hosting & infrastructure provider | Hosts this website and the database that stores your registration, on servers located in the European Economic Area | Form contents; data processed in transit |
| Google Fonts | Delivers the web fonts used on this site; your browser requests them from Google, which involves your IP address | Online identifiers (IP address) |
We may also share data with professional advisers or authorities where we're legally required or need to protect our rights, and - if the business is reorganised, sold or transferred - with a buyer or successor, subject to this policy. We'll keep this list up to date before adding any new provider.
6. Cookies
This site uses only strictly necessary cookies to work and to remember your cookie choice. We don't currently use analytics or advertising cookies. See our Cookie Policy for the detail.
7. Where your data is processed (international transfers)
We aim to keep data within the UK or European Economic Area, and this site's hosting is in the EEA. Google (for web fonts) may process limited data - your IP address - outside the UK, including in the US; where that happens, appropriate safeguards apply, such as the UK's International Data Transfer Addendum or equivalent standard contractual clauses. You can ask us for details.
8. How long we keep your data
We keep your registration details only as long as we need them to follow up about Dabba and for a reasonable period after, then delete or anonymise them - unless you go on to become a customer, in which case a separate customer agreement will apply. We keep financial and legal records for as long as the law requires (typically 6 years).
9. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- correct data that's wrong or incomplete;
- erase your data ("right to be forgotten") in certain circumstances;
- restrict or object to how we use it, including objecting to marketing at any time;
- portability - receive certain data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent where we rely on it, without affecting past processing.
To exercise any right, email hello@dabba.so. We'll respond within one month, and it's free. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) - ico.org.uk, helpline 0303 123 1113 - though we'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.
10. Security
We protect your data with appropriate technical and organisational measures, including access controls and reputable infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we take security seriously and will notify you and the ICO of a breach where the law requires.
11. Children
Dabba is a service for businesses and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect data about anyone under 18. If you think a child has given us their data, contact us and we'll delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll update the "last updated" date and, where appropriate, tell you directly. Please check back for the latest version.
